Primitive Trio Of Cat Shelf Sitters!

Just in time for Halloween!

It was late one Halloween night last year and two mice and a cockroach got dressed up for Halloween. They dwelled in the old Witch's cottage and were quite bored.
They saw the ghouls and goblins going from cottage to cottage.
They saw the Witch's familiars dressing up, and even the Witch herself dressed and went out among the villagers.

So, the mice and cockroach decided to join in on the fun, too.

The first to get dressed was the cockroach...he decided to disguise himself as a black muslin cat that had been painted and aged in the South Carolina sun.
How clever he was.
He placed a rusty metal star and a wooden button for eyes.
And to get into the spirit of the night, he wore an aged tag with a print of a vintage Halloween treat bag.
Bless his heart, the tag even looked like the cockroach in his new cat costume.

The next critter to get dressed up was one of the mice. I think it was the mouse with the missing front leg.
Anyway, he appeared as an aged white felt cat.
And, borrowing the idea from the cockroach, he used a rusty metal star and a wooden button for eyes.

And the other mouse, the one with a growth on his shoulder, ALSO decided to dress up like a cat. His costume was made of red and white checked Homespun fabric and he chose a rusty metal star and a wooden button for eyes.
He didn't bother with stitching a heart on his chest like the others suggested...he has a chip on his shoulder, as well as that growth, and he's become quite bitter through the years.
There's one in every crowd.

All three creatures stood about 10 1/2 inches tall, give or take. And they stood on little wooden spools for legs.

They went out into the village and was having a wonderful time with all the bread crumbs, boxes of cereal, and stale cookies, when they ran into the Witch.
She knew immediately who they were and she was upset.
If you want to know the truth, it was because they had better costumes than the Witch and her cohorts.
The Witch denies it to this day, but I know that was the reason.

Anyway, the Witch promptly kicked the mice and cockroach out of her cottage and now they have to find another place to dwell.

They are all dressed for Halloween again this year, so you can't see how scary they are in real life, and they promise not to ever remove their costumes....AND they promise that if you take them home, they won't breed.
You gotta admit, that's a pretty good promise, considering the breeding habits of mice and cockroaches.
*shudder*

And just to let you know, I'm not afraid of mice at all...but cockroaches terrify me....I hate them more than any other creature on the planet. So it took a lot for me to 'face my fears' and write about such a loathsome specimen of vermin.
*more shudders*
