I've been looking for
pictures to put up on this page of what I looked like back when I was 15 and 16
years old...and I found some.
This
is a terrible picture of me...it's my passport picture from early 1972. (I
know it looks like a mug shot) I went to Europe in the
spring of 1972 and we had to have these pictures taken. I was wearing a black
Beret and the camera guy made me push it back onto my head for the picture. So,
that's why my hair looks messed up.
And
here is a picture of Peter....and no one wishes it was a better picture than I
do. But this was the only picture of himself he ever sent to me and I still
cherished it. The back of the picture reads exactly as follows:
"I'm running the 200m relay here. I'm on the right, the bloke on the left
is Dave and André is in the middle." So there you have it.
Back
in my days as a young teenager, it was very popular to have an "autograph
book" for your friends to sign, especially towards the end of the school
year. I had several of them, but this one had Peter's name all through it. All
my friends knew what he meant to me and wished me "good luck in the future
with Peter"(.....now, Peter, if you
are reading this, I'm not going to stalk you (giggles), I was a very young
teenager back then. We all were, and you know how us girls can be....)
Anyway, Debbie Diffenderfer
really liked Tommy Patterson and I really liked Peter Scott...and
we both had about the same chances with these guys...but we still wrote their
names on everything. Peter....are you
embarrassed yet?
And this is some of what
I'm talking about....this stuff was all through my book, page after page after
page, and usually by the same handful of friends. I have no clue who this 'Cindy'
person is...I know it isn't mysister
Cindy, but it was driving me crazy that most of us never thought to date
anything or sign our last names.
I write the date everything
now and I just can't believe how careless we all were back then. And my future
room-mate in France signed a page. And one of my close friends 'Dee' signed, but
loved calling me names....Maria Gilbert signed, too. There are more, but I think
we've embarrassed Peter enough with school girl crushes.
This
is another picture Peter sent to me. He also sent a picture of some lions, but
my mom's vicious Poodles ate it...and you can see the teeth marks of where they
tried to eat this picture, as well. I have no idea what set them off like that.
Anyway, Peter wrote on the back of the picture that this was taken at the
Johannesburg Zoo.
And
dear, sweet Susan Venter even put up her own page on how Peter and I were
reunited. She has some beautiful words on her page that pretty much says it all.
She has become such a good friend of mine....You can read her page by clicking

And
here is how I look today....30 years later (my hair is much longer than this
picture shows)....and all I need now is an up-dated picture of Peter. When he
sends one, I'll post it on this page. As I get more information, I'll post that,
as well. I have a few more things to dig out of my boxes and things.
On February 5, 2001, I
finally got to talk to Peter...and it was great! What a wonderful voice....like I told him, we are all grown up
now, and have money, phones, and computers! I wanted him to know that I did
write to him ....both with email and "snail mail". I can't wait to
hear from him and catch up with what he's been doing for the past 30 years.
February 6, 2001 -
Well, what a wonderful day I had today!! Peter called me on the phone and we
talked for hours. I really enjoyed catching up with him and seeing
where we've remained the same and where we have grown and changed. But I can
tell you this, the very things that interested me about him back then are still
there today....All of the things that made him such a special person to me. He's
every bit as wonderful as I always knew he would be.
Finally, on May 17, 2001, I
got my first email from Peter, with his up-date picture. He has a great family.
I actually got to talk to him on the phone twice, but it was nice to get a
letter from him. And, it's great to finally see a clear picture of him. In all
these years, I didn't really know what he looked like.
These pictures were taken
recently while they were on holiday. This is Peter and his family.....taken in
April 2001.
Peter and his family were
on vacation in Kruger National Park, on the eastern side of their country on the
border of Mozambique, South Africa.
